Over the last 6 months Jigsaw has embarked on setting up and implementing a Professional and Cultural Transformation toolkit (PACT) in to organisation. The aim of this has to been to look at how we can improve the lives of the people we support and the working environment and conditions of the dedicated staff teams that work for Jigsaw.

The PACT toolkit was originally set up by the NHS and was based on the principles of the work undertaken by Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and aims to help educate and empower staff to improve professionalism within their organisation.

After looking at how successful this had been for the NHS it was agreed to adopt, adapt and implement a similar PACT toolkit at Jigsaw. This toolkit has been designed to help embed the PACT programme into the organisation. The toolkit provides practical information, advice and solutions whether it is used within a small team, department or the whole organisation, the information and tools provided are applicable to equip staff to deal with unprofessional attitudes and behaviours which may occur within the workplace. We believe this approach will help to empower individuals within Jigsaw to challenge inappropriate behaviour and reinforce the organisation's values and behaviours as well as promoting and showcasing the good work that is carried out by Jigsaw, dedicated staff teams.

The Journey so Far
At present there are 6 PACT champions within Jigsaw. These are all staff from services across the organisation at differing levels. The team consists of support staff up to senior managers so as to incorporate everyone’s views. So far the team have met to look at the future values mission and vision of Jigsaw and have started to work on analysing work practices within the services highlighting where best practice can be celebrated and where work can be done to make services even better. The journey has really just begun with the PACT team and as an organisation we look forward to seeing where it will take us.
